Ed Lynch
2008/2009 President

Welcome to MSHRM:

In 2008 and 2009, we celebrate our 30th year as a Michigan society of professionals who are dedicated to improving patient care through awareness and risk reduction. From humble beginnings in 1979 as a small association formed to share information in the field of healthcare risk management, MSHRM has grown into an effective and progressive society capable of providing its members with focused educational programs, opportunities for networking and information sharing and a voice in governmental issues that impact our ability to serve in the healthcare industry. As MSHRM’s President, I look forward to working with our membership, our committee chairs and our Board of Directors to continue to build upon the past successes of our society.

We continue to pursue the goals set forth in our strategic plan. In addition to offering relevant educational programs, our focus this year will be on increasing communication between our members (including the enhancement of our recently launched list serve discussion forum), creating collaborative associations with other professional organizations and implementing programs to develop and retain strong leaders and volunteers.

The Board remains committed to growing our membership through the networking opportunities and the diversity in the educational topics we offer.

We have recently completed a comprehensive membership survey and we will use this tool to further define the organization’s path to meet the membership’s needs.

Our important dates for 2008/2009 are:

October 2-5, 2008 - ASHRM Annual Conference – Boston, MA

October 21, 2008 - Fall Education and Business Meeting - Henry Center, East Lansing, MI

March 3, 2009 - Winter Education and Business Meeting - Henry Center, East Lansing, MI

May 20-22, 2009 - MSHRM Annual Conference – Grand Traverse Resort, Traverse City, MI

At our 2009 Annual Conference, we will reflect upon the past and will set a solid course for the future, as we proudly celebrate our 30th anniversary.

I look forward to seeing you at the meetings and serving as the 30th MSHRM President.

Ed Lynch
